On December 13-15, 2021, the 12th Lawyers' Congress of Guangdong Province was held in Guangzhou. Vice Minister of Justice Xiong Xuanguo attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech via video. The leaders in charge of the Provincial Party Committee issued instructions, and Vice Governor and Director of the Provincial Public Security Department Wang Zhizhong attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. Gong Jiali, Secretary of the Party Group and President of the Provincial High People's Court, and Lin Yiying, Secretary of the Party Group and Prosecutor General of the Provincial People's Procuratorate, attended the opening ceremony. The President of the National Bar Association, Gao Zicheng, delivered a speech through video, and Chen Xudong, Secretary of the Party Committee and Director of the Provincial Department of Justice, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The meeting reviewed the achievements of the lawyer work in Guangdong Province since the 11th Lawyers' Congress was held in 2016. Efforts have been made to promote economic and social development, safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of the people, maintain social fairness and justice, and make due contributions to the economic and social development and rule of law construction in Guangdong. The opening ceremony was presided over by Liang Zhen, Deputy Secretary and Director of the Party Committee of the Provincial Department of Justice, and Secretary of the Party Committee of the Provincial Lawyer Industry. The Provincial Political and Legal Committee, relevant officials of the Provincial Department of Justice, as well as 313 lawyer representatives and 41 specially invited representatives attended.

Lawyer Chen Guangpeng, managing partner and deputy party secretary of Guangdong Legal Shengbang Law Firm, and Lawyer Yuan Qi, head of Dongguan Branch, respectively attended the conference as representatives from Guangzhou and Dongguan regions. During the meeting, Lawyer Yuan Qi submitted a proposal with the theme of "How to empower the work of provincial and municipal law associations" based on the content of the meeting. It is recommended that the Provincial Lawyers Association open a port to use the dissemination role of the Internet to timely promote the activities and practices of the excellent committees of various city law associations, learn from each other's strengths and complement each other's weaknesses, in order to promote the coordinated development of the work of law associations in various cities throughout the province. The Provincial Law Association has the responsibility and advantage of guiding the work of law associations in various cities throughout the province. Therefore, it should closely link and collaborate with law associations in various cities, empower them to carry out their work, and jointly improve the level of lawyer practice in the province. The 12th Guangdong Lawyers Association Council and Supervisory Board were elected during the meeting, and candidates for the President, Vice President, Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board, and Secretary General were determined.
