Background expansion

The Chinese nation, which has created a brilliant civilization for over 5000 years, has long been at the forefront of the world. But in modern times, due to isolation and self preservation, the Chinese nation gradually declined. The Opium War of 1840 was a turning point in Chinese history, and the ancient Chinese dream of "the Heavenly Kingdom" was completely shattered. From the Opium War to the New China, China suffered over 470 foreign invasions and signed over 1100 unequal treaties, making it the most turbulent, humiliating, tragic, and painful period for the Chinese nation.

In order to change the fate of the Chinese nation, the Chinese people have engaged in indomitable struggle, and various political forces have made arduous explorations around finding a way to save the country. In the process of opening up their eyes to see the world and catching up with developed capitalist countries, from learning Western artifacts to imitating Western systems, ultimately, Chinese people of insight realized that only relying on advanced ideology and culture can change China's destiny. So, advanced Chinese people began to seek truth from Western countries. At that time, Chinese people who were seeking progress could read any book as long as it was a new Western doctrine. The number of international students sent to Japan, the United Kingdom, the United States, France, and Germany has reached an astonishing level. However, following the example of Western powers did not achieve national prosperity and people's strength, and China still fell into the abyss of semi colonial and semi feudal society.

Where is China heading and where is the way out for the Chinese nation? At a time when the Chinese people were pessimistic, confused, and struggling, the great October Revolution broke out in Russia, China's northern neighbor. Under the leadership of the Bolshevik Party, the Russian working class launched an armed uprising and achieved the victory of the first socialist revolution in human history. The victory of the October Revolution was like a torch lit in the deep darkness, showing hope to the world, to China, and further promoting the spread of Marxism in the world. From the scientific truth of Marxism, advanced Chinese elements have found a solution to the Chinese problem, which is to follow the path of the Russians and the path of the October Revolution.

After the victory of the October Revolution, advanced elements represented by Li Dazhao and Chen Duxiu began to widely spread Marxism in China. Since 1918, Li Dazhao has published articles and speeches such as "A Comparative View of the French Russian Revolution", "The Victory of the Common People", "The Victory of Bolshevism", and "My Marxist View", warmly praising the October Revolution and Marxism. Li Dazhao prophesied: "If we look at the world in the future, it will be a world of red flags." Before and after the May Fourth Movement, a large number of newspapers and magazines promoting Marxism also appeared, with over 200 newspapers and magazines nationwide promoting Marxist socialism to varying degrees; Advanced elements also translated and published Marxist Leninist works such as the Communist Manifesto and the Development of Socialism from Utopia to Science, or books introducing Marxism.

The widespread dissemination of Marxism in China has led to a new turning point and direction in the development of Chinese history. Marxism not only reveals the objective laws of the development of capitalist society into socialist and communist society, but also clarifies the historical conditions and mission for the complete liberation of the proletariat, pointing out the path for the vast proletariat and the laboring masses in China to seek their own liberation. With Marxism, a powerful ideological weapon for understanding and transforming the world, China's advanced elements have developed a strong revolutionary spirit, and the Chinese proletariat has gained a conscious class consciousness. A new era has emerged for the Chinese people from their thinking to their daily lives.

More importantly, with the rise of Marxism and socialist ideology in China, a group of advanced Chinese people, after their own exploration, chose Marxism as their faith and transformed from radical democrats to communist fighters. They established early Communist Party organizations based on Marxism and carried out a series of anti imperialist and anti feudal struggles such as the New Culture Movement. In this way, the Chinese revolution not only had the scientific theories of Marxism as guidance, but also had the backbone force to consciously apply this "proletarian worldview" to transform society. In view of this, on the eve of the founding of the People's Republic of China, Mao Zedong summarized the historical lessons of the Chinese nation's search for happiness over 100 years and said, "The Chinese people have found the universal truth of Marxism Leninism, which is universally applicable, and China's face has changed
