On the morning of July 27th and 30th, 2018, Nan Fang, Senior Partner of Guangdong Legal Shengbang Law Firm and Chief Lawyer of the German French Criminal Defense Lawyer Team, visited the Guangzhou Bar Association and gave lectures to about 400 intern lawyers in the 52nd and 53rd pre job training classes of Guangzhou Law School. At the beginning of the lecture, Lawyer Nan Fang shared a successful case of procedural defense with everyone - the case of Zhou Libo harboring drugs and illegally holding a gun (this case went through 10 court sessions, but due to the illegal police search procedure, drugs and firearms found in Zhou Libo's car were legally excluded, and ultimately Zhou Libo was acquitted), making everyone feel the charm of procedural defense.

In the "Criminal Defense Skills Sharing" section, Lawyer Nan Fang focused on the five types of defense, including innocent defense, lenient defense, and procedural defense. He combined multiple personally handled cases, such as suspected theft of 350000 yuan by a certain defendant. After three court sessions, the prosecutor withdrew the case and made a decision not to prosecute, resulting in the defendant being acquitted; If the crime of fraud is successfully defended as the crime of illegal medical practice; If we successfully apply to the prosecutor's office to exclude illegal evidence obtained through torture, we vividly explain how to use defense techniques to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the parties involved.

Meanwhile, in the procedural defense, Lawyer Nan Fang also explained three issues that should be noted when applying for the exclusion of illegal evidence:

1、 The grasp of clue materials means that defense lawyers have an obligation to provide clues or materials when applying for the exclusion of illegal evidence;

2、 The issue with the use of audio and video recordings, that is, audio and video recordings are evidence. If there is a discrepancy between the audio and video recordings and the interrogation transcripts, the complete synchronous audio and video recordings shall prevail;

3、 How to view the defendant's "repeated confession" and the exceptions that cannot be ruled out.

In the section "Defense Lawyer Interview Skills and Criminal Case Risk Prevention", Lawyer Nan Fang explained the changes and current situation of the exercise of lawyer interview rights in China, and combined with the interview obstacles encountered during the case handling process, provided ideas on how to solve the "difficulty of interview" and provided everyone with a way to eliminate obstacles. At the same time, Lawyer Nan also provided exciting sharing from four aspects: the four basic purposes of lawyer meetings, how lawyers should meet, pre court meetings (pre court counseling), and risk prevention in criminal cases.

From the 30th to the 53rd pre job training course for intern lawyers, Lawyer Nan Fang has taught for over 4600 intern lawyers. Although the theme of the lecture has not changed, whenever there are the latest criminal laws or meaningful cases, Lawyer Nan Fang will incorporate them into the course, facilitating everyone to learn practical case handling skills in a timely manner. The original intention of Nan Fang Lawyer's teaching is to "reduce students' detours" and "standardize case handling and prevent risks".
